"Freeze-out" (Outdoor Leader Skills Weekend)
The ‘outdoor’ training, popularly known as The Freeze-Out, will take you through the basic skills that First Class scouts are expected to know - cooking, camp setup, hiking / backpacking, map and compass, first aid, flag display, fire building, Leave No Trace, and more.
The Freeze-Out is held at Warren Hood Scout Reservation the last weekend of January and you should pre-register for that session. There is a small charge to cover meals, materials, your trained strip, and card. You will camp outdoors and a gear list will be provided when you register.
