Unit Community Service Project (posted 3/13/2008)
An important event called “DTV Transition” which will take place February 17, 2009. I am very pleased that the Andrew Jackson Council is supportive of helping our communities’ most vulnerable individuals adjust to this change. I am providing a few links that will more fully explain this transition.

We are in the nascent stages of developing an outreach plan, a grassroots effort, to reach as many folks as possible. We are currently identifying appropriate partners and gaining support. We hope to have a plan in place by April 1, 2008.
Of course, MPB will broadcast television and radio spots informing its audience of this transition, but we realize that this is not enough. Your assistance in this effort is invaluable. The number of scouts and their parents alone will provide a tremendous impact in the community. Perhaps the scouts could also help in this effort by taking into their respective churches?
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I look forward to working with you on this effort. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at the number below. I will be in touch again soon.
Sincerely,

Eagle Scout or Troop Service Project (posted 3/12/2008)
As a former boy scout member myself, I know and appreciate your organizations commitment to enjoying and preserving the environment. I believe this activity will prove to be meaningful in making youth in our community aware of the importance of clean water and air for mankind. As requested, a general description is as follows:
The Boy Scouts would be required to place approximately 300 markers provided by the City of Jackson on storm drain inlets along streets selected by the City. The purpose of the markers is to make the public more aware of the need to not put any oils, harmful chemicals and other pollutants into the storm drain system. The storm drains are for rain water only. The activity should be completed by October 2008. The scouts will require adult supervision at all times near the roadways. The number of makers placed on each assigned street must be recorded and reported to my office immediately following the activity.
Please let me know of a date when your group can be available. We can provide additional information once we hear from you. Thank you again for your interest!
