VOLT Training Weekend
(Scoutmaster & Assistant Specific Leader | Introduction to Outdoor Leader)
How effectively the Boy Scouts of America influences the lives of youth depends on its leaders and their ability to apply the aims and methods of Scouting—these are the keys. Developing the ability to use these keys is what these courses are all about.
Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the understanding of how a troop operates, how to work with youth, the guidelines and policies of the BSA and finally, the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout Troops in order to be considered “trained”.
